■ OLDCODEX Profile
OLDCODEX is formed in 2009. With a unique combination of a vocalist and a painter, OLDCODEX takes in rock, loud and dance music elements into their music while creating visuals mixed with art to please the eyes as well.
They performed the theme songs for TV anime series including Kuroko’s Basketball, Free and GODEATER.Their album A Silent, within The Roar, released in April, 2014, peaked at No. 2 in the Oricon Daily Chart (and No.5 in the weekly chart). On February 11, 2015, they held their first show at Nippon Budokan show, named “OLDCODEX ‘Capture’ 2015 in Budokan,” with about 9,000 audiences to fill up the venue. After releasing their 3rd mini album pledge on April 1, 2015, they kicked off their national tour named “OLDCODEX Tour 2015 ‘ONE PLEDGES’” with 20 dates on April 30.
Their band name OLDCODEX was created by combining “old” and “codex” (an ancient manuscript). For the Japanese, rock music is considered to be borrowed from the West, but they put their wish to create their own thing with it in their name. They are also known for their aggressive and inspiring live shows where YORKE.’s emotional paintings color the canvas in tune with Ta_2’s hard vocals.
